One of the most interesting experiences I have had occurred at a gym where I was shooting basketball. A young man was on the other end of the court and honestly had the worst shot I have ever seen. He was literally throwing the ball toward the basket with two hands. Feeling the need to help him with his shot since I had played and coached basketball in my younger days, I “allowed” my ball to roll to his end of the court. I asked him if he played on a team, hoping he would say no, and then found out he had just moved to the area and was trying to learn to play basketball for the first time so he could meet some friends. I gave him a few pointers on shooting before asking about a Buddha necklace he was wearing. This led to the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and point out the differences in who Jesus was compared to Buddha. He listened with interest and wanted to ponder the information.
