Open Doors to the Gospel

I am always amazed at how the Holy Spirit opens doors to great conversations about the gospel. I went to a hardware store to purchase screws and bolts for a project and asked for some help from a young man. Many times I would search for things on my own but I was reminded that asking for help is a good way to engage in a conversation if the employee has a few moments. This was the case this day. After asking about how long he had worked at the store and what his dream job would be, I asked him what he thought would happen after people passed away from this earth. He responded he believed in heaven and hell but was not sure if there was one God. I asked him what he meant by that. He thought since the universe is so big, there must be multiple gods. I responded,’ if God created time, space, and matter, He would have to be outside of time, space, and matter to create it. There would only need to be one, all-powerful Creator to do that. I then asked what he thought of Jesus. Confessing he was raised in church, he was not sure of a total understanding of the gospel. This opened the door to share the gospel with him and challenge him to think about the price Jesus paid for the sins of the world as well as his sins. I gave him a small booklet about exploring who God is and how much He desires a relationship with Him. He thanked me for the conversation and admitted he would think about our discussion.

This encounter was a great reminder to pray daily for the Holy Spirit to make us aware of the opportunities that He is preparing. John 15: 8 says, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit…” The Holy Spirit never fails
